6 Christmas Gifts For Your Car

If someone took you to and from work every day, kept your children safe on the commute to school, and even gave you rides to all of your favorite activities, wouldn’t you get them a Christmas gift?

Well…then, what are you getting your car for Christmas?! Keeping your car in good shape is a great way to avoid expensive repairs. Not only can you save money by doing it yourself, but you'll also get a sense of accomplishment from taking care of your car—and that's worth its weight in gold!

An Oil Change.

Your engine needs clean, fresh oil to run smoothly and stay calm. Over time, the oil turns black and dirty, damaging your engine if left unchecked. Do yourself a favor and change it every 3 months or 3,000 miles (whichever comes first).

Also known as an oil change or oil & filter service, changing your vehicle's motor oil is a simple and inexpensive way to keep your car running at peak performance and avoid costly repairs down the road. Changing your vehicle's motor oil regularly helps prevent sludge build-up in the engine and keeps its moving parts moving freely, so they don't wear out prematurely.

A Tire Rotation.

Tires should be rotated every 5,000 miles as part of a preventative maintenance schedule.

Rotating tires helps to ensure that they wear evenly and last longer, which reduces the likelihood of needing to replace them prematurely. The most important thing to remember about rotating tires is that front-to-back and side-to-side rotation is critical for proper balance and overall performance.

A Car Wash (Or Car Wash Membership!).

Washing the exterior of your vehicle is one of the easiest ways to prevent rust and corrosion. Washing a vehicle regularly will help eliminate dirt and grime, which can cause damage to the paint job over time.

New Wiper Blades.

Wiper blades should be replaced at least once a year, even if they're not worn out. The rubber can become complex and brittle over time, making it difficult to properly clear the windshield.

Wiper blades shouldn't be used if they are cracked or damaged—a cracked wiper blade can scratch your windshield and damage its finish, while a damaged wiper blade may leave streaks or spots on the glass. It's also essential to replace your wipers if they are squeaking when you use them; this is usually caused by dried-out or hardened rubber that needs to be replaced before it causes further damage to your wipers or windshields.

Air Filter Replacement.

You should replace the air filter in your car every 12,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. This is an important maintenance step because it will help keep your engine running smoothly.

Some New Lights.

Ensure your headlights, brake lights, turn signals, high beams, parking lights, and hazard lights are all working correctly. If you've had a problem with the headlight switch in the past (for example, it won't go off when you turn off the engine), make sure you don’t have that issue anymore before taking your vehicle for a road test.
